i'm shocked. i had no idea this wouldn't last. they seemed so perfect. i don't know how he beat the 19 day record of her previous marriage. too bad his time with her couldn't bring him further stardom. this could be the last we ever hear from tom green. god bless him. i'm sure drew will continue to charm us for years. she's so annoying but i end up seeing all of her movies and have even watched her e! biography. and don't ask what i was doing on the entertainment tonight site. it was an accident. this is almost as bad as posting a recipe off marthastewart.com. let's get back to the ROCK! by the way, has anyone seen jerry. maybe i'm the only moron left?

hey, what's the deal with jerry? why can't he ever make a post? they don't all have to be works of art man. just let us know what you're thinking dude. i'm a fan of yours too. i like to read ran-dumb stuff and i'm sure the other foxy fans would appreciate knowing that foxymoron jerry is still alive and kicking.
hey jerry, written any new songs? bought any new cds? eaten at any good restaurants? seen any good tv or movies? what's happening? what are your feelings about austin? do you like it? do you miss mesquite? what up dude?

well, the foxy comments function went out of business. darn. i'll try to find another way to do it. i'm no computer whiz though so don't get your hopes up. i'd rather waste my time making music. new music, old music, weird music, experimental music, foxy music, luxury music, david music, jerry music, verde music, you know... music. that's what i'm gonna waste my time on these days. no more computers.

this is an interesting article on the return on rock. seems that this writer is predicting another "alternative" breakthough next year. the days of britney and staind may be over. does anyone know if we're alternative? this could be our big break. the foxymorons, new-ternative.

i saw this link on the sweet adeline site last month and i've been dying to share it with someone. so you're the lucky ones. check out the guide to bearded musicians. pretty funny stuff. elliott smith gets it pretty bad. now i know for sure that i don't need to try to grow a beard again. i tried back at halloween but nobody could tell.
talked to jerry for a while last night. we're scheming and planning our next foxy move. since the new album is written, we're deciding when/where/how to record it. miscellaneous behind the scene business talk was going on too. not "business" as in "money", but "business" as in stupid boring paper work, legal junk, and what not. this is a boring post. but not as boring at this.

boy am i tired today. i spent four hours last night cutting and cropping 52 pictures for the new photos page. hope everyone has had a chance to check them out. the sad thing is that the most recent images are from may. wish we had some shots from our solo shows to share.
i guess i'll mention a few things that most other people with online journals are mentioning. the death of george harrison has been a really sad thing for the foxymorons. as you all know, george is the one that exposed the beatles to indian culture and music so we've always held him in high regard. heck, our debut album was named calcutta. if anyone hasn't heard the george harrison song "all things must pass", now's a good time to discover it's genius.
the "other" cool thing to talk about is the unveiling of the "Segway" scooter. jerry sent me this salon link. all i know is that i'm definitely getting one of these when they make a walmart version.

ahh yea! it's back. they are once again streaming the new wilco album, yankee hotel foxtrot, over at wilcoworld.net. i was beginning to have withdrawals.
hope everyone had a good holiday. i went home to mesquite for a few days. luckily i didn't have to see jerry! the ten hour drive did give me a chance to sort out the plans for next year. we plan to do some pre-production on the new album over christmas and start the recording in february in nashville. no plans or idea when/how it'll be released.

my friend todd in dallas sent me the pete yorn album a few weeks ago. it's pretty good in my opinion. i was kinda curious since i'd heard that he'd played most of the instruments himself. today i finally cruise his site and who do i stumble across... none other than a picture of will johnson from centro-matic. he played drums on a few rodeo city songs. i hadn't seen him since a foxy show last christmas. wow, he's looking burly these days. wicked awesome beard will! hey jerry, if we start now, maybe we'll be able to have beards by christmas? that might be the one thing that is holding us back. we look like fairy rockers? maybe beards would help us rise to the top!

the internet is an amazing resource tool for finding facts and information about all aspects of life. it's also useful for finding out information on dumb stuff like this.
on a more musical note, we received our sxsw confirmation last week. so now we can wait with baited breath, praying, hoping, and crossing our fingers that we'll get invited back again. feel free to join us in the cause. lets all cross our fingers and eyes right now in hopes that the foxymorons will get invited back to sxsw in march. thanks.
i guess we need to officially annouce the winner of the sticker design contest. look for the offical announcement on monday. i'll be sending the design information to the plant then too. can't wait to see them. i have a guitar case that is begging for a new sticker. have a good weekend.

i just found this link out on the web. it sheds a little more light on jerry's wilco concert experience. sounds like he had an even better experience after the show. hmm, now why didn't i hear about this? just becuase i didn't write the song or even play on the recording doesn't mean i didn't have anything to do with it. i was there in the studio as jerry recorded the song. i was the guy encouraging him all along. "sounds great! good job. you nailed it! one more time." i should get some credit for that, right? i think jerry is trying to keep this compliment a secret. i think he's trying to hide it from me. well the secret's out buddy. god bless godmadefriedchicken for spilling the beans.

here's the report on my solo show. i'd never done one before so it took me a few songs to get used to the acoustic thing and knowing that i was "the boring acoustic guy" for the night. it was weird to not have a band to hide behind. luckily, i was warmed up after three songs. for the fourth song i played baby blue and gave a big plug for the band and our albums. as usual in nashville, i had to convince a few people i wasn't lying. our name just lends it's self to jokes. the first song, "the lazy librarian's son" was awesome. the crowd was dead silent. it was like a foxymorons spell had been cast. i should have just left. jerry told me the same thing happened when he played it at his solo show. man, i can't wait to record that one. all in all, i played luxury liners songs, foxymorons songs, and a few songs that i just wanted to play for the fun of it. i'd wanted to play more unreleased songs but i couldn't remember all the words so i played it safe with older material.
here's the set list:
1. it's you - luxury liner song to get me warmed up
2. without you - luxury song
3. fifteen again - newer luxury song
4. baby blue - this song went pretty good
5. lazy librarian's son - the best one of the night. it'll be on our next album.
6. i love you - old david song
7. i wanna be with you - old david song
8. tell me tonight - old david song
9. waiting for the sun - luxury song
10. something out there - i laughed on the bridge just like on the record

i'm not quite sure how many artsy foxy-friends/fans we have but i thought i'd ask a question of you. the foxymorons are finally getting around to making some stickers. you know, the kind you see plastered all over bathrooms in rock clubs and on the back windshields of indie rock highschooler's volvos. before we attempted to draw a sticker with our kindergarten chicken scratch crayon skills, we figured we should ask you guys for some help. so now we're asking begging. "help us make a cool sticker!" we'll give everyone two weeks to come up with their best designs. then we'll post 'em on the web and have a vote. the winner will get a free stack of stickers (with your winning design), a copy of the regurgitation cover album, and a super-rare copy of our very first release, "the gray slacks cassette". we only made five copies of this so you'll be the envy of all your friends. heck, i don't even have a copy.
as far as design specs and stuff. here's the info. we're giving you two sizes to choose from. one is a rectangle (5.50" x 1.42") and one is a square (2.75" x 2.75"). i know, they're small but hey, it's our first sticker. we gotta start somewhere. if you're doing a drawing or painting, you can make them large scale. we'll shrink 'em down for you. just do your math right!
so if you're interested, here's the info:
1. make our name, the foxymorons, visible.
2. sneak the web address, www.foxymorons.com, in somewhere.
3. only use black, white, or grays.
4. mail a drawing/painting or email a 300 dpi TIFF / EPS / or JPEG.
5. deadline for entries is friday september 14th. we'll start the voting the following monday.

here are some confusing side comments from the printing company for those of you that care or understand what the heck they're talking about. "Make your design simple! Intricate and super-fine lines (less than 1-pt) tend to dry up in the screen and might not show up on your sticker. Serifed fonts can be a nightmare for us — especially at small point sizes. Set all type at LEAST 10 points. If you want a negative image printed, we can reverse your artwork. We screen all halftones at 55 lpi. Convert all fonts to curves or include them with your file!"

hello. this is foxymoron david making my first "real" post on the journal page. i hope this thing ends up working and stuff. it could be cool. wish i knew how to do a blog voices kinda thing. that'd be cool to have too. so people could make comments and stuff. anyways, making website can be a pain in the butt. i'd much rather be writing a new song. now that's a good thing to waste time on. maybe i should post an mp3 of one of our new four track demos for the new album?? stay tuned. i might just do that.
